Help Enterprises Boost Light Industry to Seize New Opportunities in RCEP

In order to implement the important deployment of the State Council on "strengthening training related to the implementation of the agreement", the Ministry of Commerce held the second online special training of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) on March 22-23. The training focuses on the impact of RCEP on the industry, helps local governments and enterprises to familiarize themselves with the contents and rules of the agreement, improves their management level and policy utilization ability, and enhances their ability to participate in international cooperation and competition.
China Light Industry Federation attaches great importance to this special training, and President Zhang Chonghe personally instructed to do a good job in the organization. In order to implement President Zhang's instructions and promote more member companies to understand RCEP, the China National Light Industry Council actively took the lead in organizing 30 national industry associations including leather, wine, home appliances, and musical instruments, 4 local industry associations, and Haier Group, More than 520 people including heads of 37 member companies including Kweichow Moutai and Yanjing Beer participated in online special training.
During the training, Yu Benlin, Director of the International Department of the Ministry of Commerce, gave a comprehensive explanation on the overall situation of RCEP and how enterprises can effectively seize the opportunity. Yu Benlin pointed out that enterprises should seize the opportunities brought about by the agreement and properly deal with the challenges. It is necessary to thoroughly understand the impact of trade in goods on industrial development, make good use of the cumulative rules of origin, and deeply participate in the dynamic adjustment of the industrial chain supply chain; seize the new opportunities brought about by the opening of the RCEP service industry and investment, improve the management level and the ability to utilize agreements, and enhance participation The ability to cooperate and compete; we must dig deeper into favorable policies, make full use of various dividends, and maximize the effectiveness of RCEP.
Guo Yongxin, Executive Secretary General of China Light Industry Federation, participated in the lecture at the main venue of the Ministry of Commerce. He introduced the opportunities and challenges brought by the RCEP agreement to the light industry, and put forward suggestions to deal with it. He pointed out that the full implementation of RCEP will promote the development of light industry foreign trade and industry. But at the same time, RCEP will also bring two major challenges to the light industry. One is the transfer of low-end and labor-intensive industries in the domestic value chain; the other is that high-end industries in the foreign value chain invest and build factories in China, and Chinese companies will start in the Chinese market. More intense competition. Guo Yongxin gave five suggestions on the light industry to deal with the challenges: first, the whole region layout industry; second, international standards as a pass to expand exports; third, do a good job in dealing with trade frictions; fourth, increase brand recognition and enhance brand value; fifth, strengthen scientific and technological innovation and enhance the value of the industrial chain.
