1. Definition of CMF
Personally, I prefer the opinions of engineers. CMF uses engineering methods to transform design into actual products.
The engineer's view is:In this process, people will realize the sensory feelings: vision, touch, hearing, taste, smell. Engineering methods are respectively reflected in CMF's color, material and surface treatment technology, touch, smell and even taste, and research on interactive application technology on different materials. CMF is a hub connecting ID and factories. It must be very familiar with factories, processes and materials, integrate resources, and be innovative and rigorous.
Designers are more inclined:CMF is a part of ID and is a refinement of the division of labor in large enterprises. As an important part of product design, CMF is paid attention to as an important part of product design, mainly color/material/process, thus gradually evolving into a design subdivision industry.
The CMF industry is still developing rapidly and is still being defined. I believe there will be an independent and comprehensive definition of CMF in the future.
